Welfare fund’s income grows to MOP14 bln in 2014

The Social Security Fund’s income increased to MOP14 billion (about US$1.79 billion) last year, 8.61 per cent more than the year before, the fund’s annual report says.

Nine-tenths of the money came from the government. Contributions by employers and employees together made up only 1.32 per cent of the fund’s income.

The fund’s outgoings increased by 22.8 per cent to MOP2.85 billion.

Money from the fund pays for welfare benefits.
