VIP gambling continuing to pick up: Bowie

MGM China Holdings Ltd’s chief executive Grant Bowie said he expects the city’s VIP business to continue to pick up “slightly” as the Chinese economy improves.

Double-digit revenue growth from VIP gamblers is “sustainable” and the VIP segment is “solid”, Mr Bowie said on Wednesday, quoted by Bloomberg.

He said that despite speculation on the government transition in the mainland, there has been no negative impact.

During the first quarter earnings call on May 6 of MGM Resorts, the 51 percent owner of MGM China, Mr Bowie said junket turnover at MGM Macau for the period was a property record, with nearly 15 percent year-on-year growth.
