A new study has forecast 9.1 percent growth in the economy this year and a low unemployment rate, our sister publication Business Daily reports.

Research by the University of Macau’s department of economics concludes that the annual rate of GDP growth will slow from an estimated 10 percent last year to 9.1 percent this year.

Unemployment will stay at 1.9 percent, meaning the labour market will remain tight, and keep upward pressure on median monthly earnings, which could increase by 5.6 percent to MOP12,740.

Consumer price inflation could slow to 5.2 percent this year, down from an estimated 5.5 percent last year.
