An academic thinks it will take a while for the tourist trails that the government intends to open to serve their purpose, Business Daily reports today.

Institute for Tourism Studies president Fanny Vong Chuk Kwan said it would take time for the trails to channel tourists into the city’s less-visited places.

The Macau Government Tourist Office has said it will open four tourist trails on the peninsula before the mainland’s seven days of National Day holidays, which begin on October 1.

The tourist office forecasts a slight rise in the number of visitors during the October holidays this year. Last year the city had over 954,000.
