Tourist price inflation slows to 3.63 pct in Q1

Macau’s annual rate of tourist price inflation slowed to 3.63 percent in the first quarter of this year, the slowest for five years, official data show.

The Statistics and Census Service attributes the lower rate of tourist price inflation to the cost of accommodation growing more slowly.

Accommodation carries great weight in the basket of goods and services used to gauge tourist price movements.

The annual rate of tourist accommodation price inflation was 4.33 percent, the rise in room rates in three-star and four-star hotels having slowed in the first quarter.
