Tourist price deflation strikes Macau in Q3

Visitors to Macau in the third quarter of this year experienced deflation in tourist prices, official data indicate.

The Statistics and Census Service says the annual rate of tourist price deflation was 2.7 percent.

The service attributed the deflation mainly to lower rates for hotel rooms.

The annual rate of accommodation price deflation was 10.88 per cent and the annual rate of deflation in the prices of clothes and shoes was nearly 7 per cent.

Prices of other goods and services bought by tourists rose.
