The number of visitors arriving in Macau in tour groups slid further in December. The Statistics and Census Service says 875,788 package tourists visited in December, 1.3 percent fewer than one year earlier.

There were fewer arrivals from South Korean, Taiwan and Malaysia, but increases in tourist numbers from the mainland, Hong Kong and Thailand.

Across all of last year, the number of package tourists grew by 7.2 percent to about 9.78 million. They made up one-third of all tourists.

The city’s 98 hotels and guesthouses had 10.67 million guests last year, 11.8 percent more than in 2012.

A hotel guest’s average length of stay was 1.4 nights, and the average occupancy rate was 83.1 percent, 0.5 percentage point less than in 2012.
