TAKING BACK LAND IN TAIPA NORTH AN OPTION FOR GOVT

The Urban Planning Committee secretary, Lao Iong, has said the government may expropriate land in Taipa North if landowners there fail to go along with the development plan for the area.

Mr Lao, speaking at the beginning of the committee’s deliberations on amendments to the plan meant to speed up the development of Taipa North, said taking back the land would be the last resort.

The amendments would allow the owners to develop more densely idle parcels in the vicinity of Caminho das Hortas, Cheok Ka Village, Avenida Dr Sun Yat Sen and Rua da Madeira.
