Suncity’s June VIP turnover hits MOP135 billion

Rolling chip turnover in VIP gaming rooms affiliated to Suncity Group Ltd was a record MOP135 billion (US$16.9 billion) last month.

The group’s rolling chip turnover last month was equivalent to annual turnover at China Vanke Co Ltd, the mainland’s biggest residential real estate developer.

Our sister publication Business Daily quoted Suncity’s vice-president of human resources, Lee Siu Wai, as telling the Chinese-language Macao Daily News the company was the “No.1 junket operator in Macau in terms of scale” with revenue from 250 gaming tables in 17 VIP rooms.

Industry observers say a scramble for alliances and consolidation among junket operators has gathered pace.

The junkets are consolidating because of limits on overseas casino staff, to share credit risk and to smooth out volatility.
