Suncity boss says Macau still needs VIP gaming

The owner and chairman of gambling junket operator Suncity Group Ltd, Alvin Chau Cheok Wa, has said mass-market gaming cannot replace VIP-market gaming in Macau.

Mr Chau said on MASTV that the VIP market still generated 70 per cent of the city’s gaming revenue, in spite of the slump in VIP gaming.

“If there are no VIP rooms, even though the proportion generated by the mass-market is getting bigger, the drop in gaming revenue will remain serious,” he said.
