Summer holidays boost passenger numbers at airport

Passenger numbers and aircraft movements at Macau International Airport rose last month, boosted by travellers heading off on summer holiday.

Macau International Airport Co Ltd says more than 496,000 passengers used the terminal last month, 9.5 percent more than a year earlier.

The fastest growth was in passengers from the mainland, which rose by 18 percent, and from Southeast Asia, which rose by 7.5 percent.

There were more than 4,300 aircraft movements, 9.5 percent more than a year earlier.

In the first eight months of this year the airport handled 12.5 percent more passengers than a year earlier and 18.5 percent more flights.
