SME WEBSITE SUBSIDIES MAKE WEB DEVELOPERS SALIVATE

Web development companies welcome the prospect of government subsidises for the websites of small and medium enterprises, Business Daily reports.
Macau Economic Services recently announced such subsidies, which are meant to allow SMEs to do more business online.
The newspaper quotes one web developer as saying inquiries it receives from potential customers have increased by about 30 percent since the announcement, and another as saying inquiries have increased by 20 percent.
The government intends to pay70 percent of the cost of setting up an eligible SME’s website, up to a maximum of MOP14,000 (US$1,750), and up to MOP6,000 to keep a website going in its first three years. It also intends to pay up to MOP5,000 to improve an SME’s present website.
