SMALL BUSINESSES TO RAISE PAY BY 5-6 PCT IN 2015

Small and medium enterprises intend to increase the pay of their employees by 5 percent to 6 percent next year, Macau Small and Medium Enterprises Association vice-president Daniel Iong has said.

“This salary increase is set basically to keep close to inflation rate changes so far, and is at a level that is still affordable for most small companies here,” Mr Iong said.

“Companies that earn more, like those working in the convention and exhibition business or information technology, they can offer up to 7 percent or 8 percent salary increases for next year, which is a level higher than the average for retail and restaurants here.”

He said SMEs would increase pay after the Lunar New Year holidays.
