SJM to break ground for new resort next week

SJM Holdings Ltd says it will break ground for its first casino-resort in Cotai next Thursday.

SJM chief executive Ambrose So Shu Fai said last week his company intended to open the casino-resort within three years.

The company said last year it would probably develop 250,000 square metres of land, including a big plot controlled by SJM director Angela Leong On Kei, which is zoned for uses other than gaming.

SJM said the casino-resort would have 2,000 hotel rooms and 700 gaming tables.
