Services propel third quarter GDP to 10.5 pct

The annual rate of economic growth was 10.5 percent in third quarter, the Statistics and Census Service says.

The growth was driven by services. Exports of gaming services grew by 13.3 percent and tourism receipts by 8.1 percent.

Private investment rose by 15.1 percent, led by a rise of 23.4 percent in construction investment.

But government investment fell by 51.4 percent as capital outlays slowed now that the University of Macau’s new campus on Hengqin Island has been completed.
