September data show slight uptick in visitors

Macau had nearly 2.42 million visitors last month, 0.4 per cent more than a year earlier, official data indicate.

The growth is the first for four months.

The Statistics and Census Service says over 1.24 million of last month’s visitors were day-trippers, about the same as a year earlier.

The number of mainlanders visiting fell by 1.4 per cent to just over 1.57 million.

But more visitors came from Macau’s other main sources of tourists, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
