Sept 3 a Golden Week opportunity for Macau

The central government has declared September 3 a national holiday to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, and the Macau and Hong Kong governments will follow suit.

Macau Government Tourist Office Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes told reporters that her office would work out how many more mainlanders might take the opportunity to visit Macau.

Ms Fernandes said that in the mainland the new holiday would be observed a day late so people there could have three days in a row off work.
