Regulator okays more flights to meet summer rush

The Civil Aviation Authority of Macau has approved 47 extra scheduled or charter flights to Macau to meet increased demand during the summer.

It has permitted Air Macau to put on more flights to mainland cities, Japan, South Korea and Vietnam.

The airline will have 28 additional services to Hanoi, five more to Muan, five to Busan, three to Okinawa, and two each to Matsuyama and Guiyang.

Up to the end of last month, Macau airport handled 774 private and business jet aircraft movements, 13 percent more than in the same period last year.

The airport handled 24 percent more traffic last month than a year earlier.
