Q3 visitor spending shrinks to MOP12.47 bln

Visitors to Macau spent MOP12.47 billion (about US$1.56 billion) on everything except gambling in the third quarter of this year, 19.5 per cent less than a year earlier, official data indicate.

The Statistics and Census Service says this was because visiting mainlanders spent less than they used to.

On average, each visitor spent MOP1,540, 18 per cent less.

Average spending per head by mainlanders fell by 20 per cent to MOP1,776.

Average spending per head by visitors from Hong Kong fell by MOP6 to MOP913.
