Q2 visitor spending drops 24.7 pct to MOP2.25 bln

Visitors spent MOP2.25 billion (about US$1.53 billion) in Macau in the second quarter of this year on everything except betting, 24.7 per cent less than a year earlier, the Statistics and Census Service says.

The service’s data indicate that spending by visitors that stayed overnight fell by 30.4 per cent to MOP9.58 billion, while spending by day-trippers rose by 7.3 per cent to MOP2.67 billion.

Spending per head decreased by 22.1 per cent to MOP1,668. Spending per head by mainlanders shrank by 24.3 per cent to MOP2,012.
