Q1 MICE events increase by one-fifth to 276

Macau held 276 meetings, incentives, conventions or exhibitions in the first quarter of this year, 20 percent more than a year earlier, official data show.

The Statistics and Census Service says some 304,000 people attended these events, 50 percent more than a year earlier.

It says 40,000 people attended 263 meetings or conferences and that 264,000 attended 13 exhibitions.

Exhibition organisers had revenue of MOP16.22 million (US$2.03 million), 88 percent more than a year earlier.
