Q1 company incorporations increase to 1,455

The number of companies newly incorporated in the first quarter of this year was 1,455, or 329 more than a year earlier, official data indicate.

Their combined registered capital is MOP157 million (US$19.7 million), 17 per cent less than the registered capital of those incorporated a year earlier.

The Statistics and Census Service says 563 are in wholesaling or retailing, 324 in business services and 191 in construction.

The number of companies dissolved in the first quarter was 158, or three more than a year earlier.
