Proportion of revenue from VIP gaming lowest ever

Telsey Advisory Group says revenue from VIP gaming made up only 60.6 percent of all gaming revenue in Macau last month, the least ever.

Telsey says in a report that it expects the proportion to keep contracting this year.

This is because several casinos intend to use more of their tables for mass-market gaming and fewer for VIP gaming, in an effort to get the most out of their limited numbers of tables.

Telsey expects this shift to widen margins.

The Telsey report says VIP gaming revenue was 1 percent lower last month than a year earlier, while mass-market gaming revenue was 25.8 percent higher.
