Pay rise of 5.71 pct proposed for civil servants

The Executive Council is proposing that civil service pay be increased by 5.71 percent this year, council spokesperson Leong Heng Teng has said.

The percentage is about the same as that suggested by the civil service pay committee, but the increase the council is proposing would not be backdated to the beginning of this year.

The council’s proposal will now be sent to the Legislative Assembly for its consideration.
