Officials elaborate on budgeting law amendments

Proposed amendments to the law on government budgeting would allow the Legislative Assembly to check the progress of the capital spending programme more frequently, officials have said.

Officials of the Financial Services Bureau told a seminar that the bill of amendment provided for the assembly to hear progress reports every quarter instead of just once a year.

The assembly would debate any changes in the programme, they said.

The bill is meant to give the assembly the authority to monitor big infrastructure projects more closely.
