October’s exports recover from September’s stumble

The value of exports rebounded to MOP700 million (US$87.5 million) in October, 10 percent more than a year earlier, after stumbling by 9 percent in September.

The Statistics and Census Service said the biggest improvement was in re-exports, which grew by 13 percent to MOP533 million. Domestic exports grew by 1 percent to MOP167 million.

In the first 10 months of the year imports rose by 13 percent from a year earlier to MOP65.7 billion and exports rose by 9 percent to MOP7.43 billion, making the trade deficit MOP58.27 billion.
