Construction wages go down

The average daily wage of overall construction workers decreased by 3.4 percent quarter-to-quarter to MOP563 (US$70) in the first three months of the year.
The average daily wage of skilled and semi-skilled workers fell by 4.2 percent, to MOP568, data from the Statistic and Census Service shows.
In the opposite direction, the average daily wage of unskilled workers went up by 1.9 percent to MOP373.
In regards to construction materials, the price index of construction materials for residential buildings in the first quarter of 2012 rose slightly by 0.9 percent.
The average price of concrete increased by 8.3 percent quarter-to-quarter to MOP440 per cubic metre, but that of spiral and round reinforcing steel bars decreased by 1.7 percent to MOP6,036 per tonne.
