The permanent committee responsible for examining the proposed law on updating the salaries of civil servants has already completed its deliberations. According to Radio Macau, two meetings were sufficient for the lawmakers to consider the contents of the ordinance, which should be discussed again in the plenary session next week.
Lawmakers of the committee argued that the proposal should be approved as soon as possible this month, so that it can enter into force on May 1. The document presented by the Government does not examine retroactive effects – which led to much criticism from the associations of civil servants – and was not delivered to the assembly as a matter of urgency. Still, the analytical process was considered quickly, so next week lawmakers should hold a vote on the article.
