New jobseekers push unemployment up 0.1 pct

The unemployment rate in the three months ended July 31 increased by 0.1 percentage point to 1.9 percent, official data show.

Macau had 7,000 unemployed, 500 more than in the three months ended June 30.

First-time jobseekers made up 10.2 percent of the unemployed, 4.9 percentage points more than the previous three months.

The underemployment rate was stable at 0.7 percent.

The labour force numbered 366,000 people and the participation rate was 72.6 percent.
