Monetary Authority bats for online payment systems

The chairman of the Monetary Authority of Macau, Anselmo Teng Lin Seng, has said the authority will press for the law to be changed to make it easier to set up third-party online payment systems in the city.

“There are some regulations restricting the development of third-party payment systems in Macau,” Mr Teng told the Legislative Assembly.

“There are third-party online payment platforms seeking to expand their businesses in Macau, but they have to apply for separate licences,” he said.
