Migrant labour force increases to 152,299 in May

Official figures show Macau had 152,299 migrant workers at the end of May, 3,091 more than a month earlier and the most ever, Lusa reports.

The Portuguese news agency, citing police data, says the number has been increasing at the rate of 92 a day for the past 12 months.

Of the migrant labour force, 97,550 are mainlanders and most work in

the hotel, restaurant, construction or retailing industries.

Among the foreign migrant workers, 20,019 are Filipinos and 12,689 Vietnamese.
