MICE subsidies to be targeted more precisely

The Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute will subsidise meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions in a manner that has more precise effects, according to the vice-chairman of the institute’s administrative committee, Irene Lau Kuan Va.

“We will focus on programmes with potential to have a positive impact on promoting Macau’s economy and, most important, help the development of local small and medium enterprises,” Ms Lau said on TDM radio.

She said the amount of MICE subsidies would remain the same after her institute takes over the disbursement of the money in January.

At present the Macau Government Tourist Office and Macau Economic Services hand out the subsidies.
