MELCO CROWN ENTERTAINMENT Q2 NET PROFIT FALLS

Macau casino operator Melco Crown Entertainment Ltd made a net profit of only US$143.6 million (MOP1.15 billion) in the second quarter of this year, having made US$181 million a year earlier.

Melco Crown Entertainment announced that its second-quarter net revenue fell by 7 percent to just under US$2 billion.

The company attributed the decline in net revenue chiefly to lower rolling chip takings from VIP gaming, although its takings from mass-market gaming increased.

Its adjusted property earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation fell by 11 percent to US$313.6 million.
