May package tourists increase 21 pct to 925,000

Some 925,000 package tourists visited Macau in May, 21 percent more than a year earlier, official data show.

The Statistics and Census Service attributes the increase mainly to the Labour Day holidays in the mainland.

Some 734,000 mainlanders visited on package tours, 25 percent more than a year earlier.

The average occupancy rate of the city’s hotels and guesthouses was 86 percent in May, 7 percentage points more than a year earlier.

The busiest hotels were four-star hotels, where the average occupancy rate was 88 percent.
