Revenue from mass-market table games has grown by about 44 percent in a year, according to calculations by our sister publication Business Daily.

The English-language newspaper said VIP revenue grew by 7.9 percent between August and the same time last year.

If confirmed by the official statistics in October, the annual growth in the mass-market segment will be among the highest ever.

The opening of several casinos in 2007 saw mass-market revenue – including from slot machines – grow by 37 percent in year-on-year terms.

Data suggest revenue from mass-market table games was about MOP9.93 billion (US$1.24 billion) in August, up from MOP6.89 billion a year earlier.

Revenue from VIP table games was about MOP19.57 billion, up from MOP18.14 billion.
