Mass-market gaming fuels revenue growth in Q3

Mass-market baccarat continues to steal market share from VIP baccarat even as growth in the recovering VIP gaming segment accelerates, official data show.

Revenue from mass-market baccarat was 41.8 percent higher in the third quarter than a year before at MOP23.8 billion (US$3 billion), the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau says.

Mass-market baccarat revenue made up 26.7 percent of the third-quarter casino gross gaming revenue of MOP89.2 billion – 2.7 percentage points more than in the second quarter and the most since the fourth quarter of 2005.

Revenue from VIP baccarat rose by 13 percent to MOP57.8 billion in the third quarter, having risen by 11.2 percent in the second.

Revenue from slot machines grew by 12.9 percent to MOP3.6 billion, making up 4 percent of casino gross gaming revenue.
