March visitors increase by 10 pct to 2.63 mln

Macau had 2.63 million visitors last month, 10 percent more than a year earlier, official data show.

The Statistics and Census Service says 53 percent were day-trippers.

The number of mainlanders that visited the city rose by 24 percent to 1.77 million, of whom 42 percent travelled on individual visas rather than group visas.

Visitors stayed for 1.0 day, on average, the same as a year earlier.

In the first quarter of this year Macau had 7.69 million visitors, 9 percent more than a year earlier.
