Macau’s unemployment rate at 1.7 pct

The unemployment rate for December 2013 – February 2014 was 1.7 percent, according to information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC). The total labor force reached 382,400 and the labor force participation rate rose by 0.4 percentage points from November 2013 – January 2014, reaching 73.4%.
Employment numbers totaled 376,000, an increase of 3,900 from November 2013 – January 2014. Employment numbers in the Retail trade and the Construction sector increased by 4.5% and 2.5% respectively.
Furthermore, during the period between December 2012 and February 2013, the labor force participation rate increased by 1.4 percentage points, whilst the unemployment rate decreased by 0.2 percentage points.
