More mainlanders will vacation outside of Macau and Hong Kong as their living standards and incomes rise, according to Hong Kong stockbroker CLSA.

A CLSA report on tourism released yesterday predicts the two cities will remain leading destinations, but that the proportion of mainland tourists visiting them will shrink from 62 percent to 45 percent of all travellers.

The report forecasts that 200 million mainland tourists will travel abroad by 2020 – about double the number in 2011 – and that their spending will triple today’s expenditure.
