Macau second in Asia-Pacific tourism earnings list

Macau had US$51 billion (about MOP408 billion) in earnings from tourism last year, the second-highest amount of any economy in the Asia-Pacific region, an annual study report says.

The study, by the UN World Tourism Organisation and the Global Tourism Economy Research Centre, found that only mainland China, with US$57 billion, had higher earnings from tourism.

The study report describes Macau as an “excellent reference”, serving five times as many tourists as it has people.
