Macau investment in mainland drops in August

The authorities in the mainland approved 17 projects by Macau investors in August, 37 percent fewer than in July, Ministry of Commerce data show.

Macau investors put US$30 million (MOP240 million) into these projects, 59 percent less than in July.

In the first eight months of this year the authorities in the mainland approved 184 projects by Macau investors, 4.6 percent more than in the equivalent period last year. Macau investors put US$350 million into these projects, 2.2 percent less.

By the end of August the authorities in the mainland had approved 13,326 projects by Macau investors. Macau investors had put US$11.24 billion into the mainland, or 0.8 percent of the mainland’s accumulated foreign capital.

In the first eight months 15 mainland investments in Macau with a combined value of US$590 million were approved.
