Macau bank lending to SMEs booms in 2014H2

Macau banks granted small and medium enterprises new credit to the value of MOP25.4 billion (US$3.18 billion) in the second half of last year, 55.8 percent more than a year earlier, official data show.

The Monetary Authority of Macau says the proportion of new credit secured against tangible assets rose by 4.4 percentage points to 82.1 percent.

At the end of last year bank loans to SMEs amounted MOP60 billion, or 48.4 percent more than a year earlier, of which MOP131.1 million was bad debt, 9.2 percent less.
