The government is to launch an interest free loan scheme for young entrepreneurs in the second quarter this year, our sister publication Business Daily reports.

Young residents aged 21 to 35 wanting to start their own companies will be eligible to apply for the special loan, the Economic Services Bureau said.

The proposed upper limit of loans is MOP300,000 (US$37,500) and the maximum loan period will be eight years.

The plan for easy loans for young entrepreneurs was announced by Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On in his annual policy address in November.
