Lawmaker Ung Choi Kun has urged the government to reduce the tax rate of rental housing from the current ten per cent to six per cent, the same as that applied to owner-occupied housing. In his written inquiry, the lawmaker indicated that, two years ago, the authorities had promised to adjust these two tax items, bringing them to the same rate. He urged them to amend and improve the laws regulating the real estate leasing sector. Ung also called for the government to show more attention to the growing rental housing market, in order to promote its healthy development.
