July new mortgages for homes shrink to MOP4.19 bln

New mortgages for housing granted by Macau’s banks were together worth MOP4.19 billion (about US$523.75 million) in July, 23.9 per cent less than a year earlier, the Monetary Authority of Macau says.

The authority’s data indicate that the value of new mortgages for housing granted to Macau residents decreased by 24.8 per cent to MOP4.05 billion.

The value of new mortgages for commercial property decreased by 27.8 per cent to MOP12.62 billion.

The value of new mortgages for commercial property granted to Macau residents decreased by 36 per cent to MOP9.88 billion.
