Jobless rate steady in trimester ended September

The unemployment rate was 1.9 percent in the three months ended September 30, the same as in the trimester ended August 31, the Statistics and Census Service says.

The service’s data indicate that the labour force shrank by 200 workers to 402,500.

The number employed in the gaming industry increased by 1.2 per cent to 84,200.

The number employed in the construction industry decreased by 0.9 per cent to 52,900.
