January imports drop 1.2 pct to MOP8.53 bln

The value of Macau’s merchandise imports decreased to MOP8.53 billion (US$1.06 billion) in January, 1.2 per cent less than a year earlier, official data show.

The Statistics and Census Service attributes the decrease mainly to imports of consumer goods shrinking by 14.9 per cent to MOP4.76 billion.

The value of exports increased by 2.9 per cent to MOP960 million.
