Inflation slow downed in May, shows data disclosed today by the Statistics and Census Service.
In May, the Composite Consumer Price Index, Macau’s main gauge for inflation, increased by 4.84 percent year-on-year.
That was a significant slowdown from the previous month: in April, the index had increased 5.24 percent year-on-year.
According to the Statistics and Census Service, inflation in May was mainly impacted by rising charges for eating out and outbound package tours, as well as higher rentals for housing.
For the 12 months ended May, the average Composite Consumer Price Index increased by 5.59 percent from the preceding period.
