Housing prices rise in Q1 as fewer homes sold

The average price of housing rose to MOP88,958 (US$11,141) a square metre in the first quarter of this year, 3 percent more than in the preceding quarter, official data show.

The Statistics and Census Service says the average price per square metre of finished housing rose by 4 percent to MOP80,100 and that the average price of unfinished housing rose by 4 percent to MOP125,987.

Altogether, 1,980 homes were sold in the first quarter, 21 percent fewer than in the preceding quarter, for a total of MOP12.19 billion, 16 percent less.
