Hoteliers in Macau are making more revenue than those in Taiwan or Hong Kong, our sister publication Business Daily reports.

A quarterly review of the hotel business in Greater China by leisure industry consultants HVS compares revenue and occupancy rates here, in Hong Kong, Taipei, Kaoshiung and Taichung.

HVS says the average room rate here rose to MOP1,440 (US$180) a night in the third quarter.

That figure is about 2.9 percent higher than Hong Kong’s average rate of HK$1,359.

The average room in Taipei was NT$4,061 (MOP1,069).

HVS says the average occupancy rate of hotels here was 90.3 percent in the third quarter, besting Hong Kong’s 89.9 percent.
